Your Surgery - Pre and Post Trips

The necessary duration of your stay in São Paulo for hair transplant surgery is 3 days as follows:

1st Day :
Arrival. Personal evaluation at Ruston Clinic.
2nd Day:
Day of Hair Transplant Surgery
3rd Day:
Return to Ruston Clinic to have first shampoo and revision.
After, you are free to return to your country.

The stitches in the donor area will fall out automatically (making removal unnecessary) and the post-operative instructions will be given to you at the clinic when you go for your first shampoo, the day after surgery.

Some patients however prefer to spend a little time in Brazil, however, to rest or take the opportunity as a small vacation.

For these patients, we suggest some small trips of four or more days that you may take before or after your surgery.

Pré–operative Trips

You may take advantage of your first days in Brazil getting to know some very special and interesting places.

We have listed some suggestions and tips here:

The Amazon represents over half of the planet's remaining rainforests and comprises the largest and most species-rich tract of tropical rainforest in the world.
Ariaú Amazon Towers is the only hotel complex at tree top level in the Amazon Rainforest.

To the east of Brazilian coastline, the archipelago of "Fernando de Noronha" comprises 21 islands created more than 10 million years by a volcanic eruption. It is located 345 kilometers off the coast of Pernambuco, Brazil, and has been classified as a nature reserve and as world heritage by U.N.E.S.C.O., hence protecting historic buildings, flora, fauna and three of Brazil’s most beautiful beaches.

Located on the border between Argentina and Brazil, each year Iguassu Falls attract thousands of tourists. Those who visit the falls can hike over walkways that lead tourists only a few meters over the largest of the waterfalls, suggestively named "Garganta do Diabo" or “Devil's Throat”. It is impossible to avoid getting wet-- and to be utterly thrilled. Yet that is not all. The Waterfalls are part of the Iguassu National Park, the largest subtropical rainforest on Earth.

The visitor seeking a resort destination which also provides the sophisticated infra-structure of a modern city will find everything he requires in Rio de Janeiro. Factor in the rainforest flourishing between the city and the beaches and you have a unique range of attractions all within the one destination.

Post-operative Trips

If you prefer, you may also schedule travel for after surgery. The only inconvenience is that you may not participate in adventure travel or beaches, or any destination that may compromise your healing in the post-operative period, however you will have the advantage of being able to return to your country having fully recuperated after the surgery.

Some travel options follow:

São Paulo is a major cultural centre. The city has an ethnically diverse metropolitan area, with heavy Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Arab and Japanese influences. The city is known for its varied and sophisticated cuisine, ranging from Chinese to French, from fast food chains to five star restaurants. There are approximately 52 different types of cuisines in São Paulo, and more than 12,000 restaurants. Other venues such as bars, pubs, lounges and discos cater to a variety of music tastes.

To experience genuinely cold weather, Brazilians head into the highlands. Located in the Serra da Mantiqueira, is the lively winter resort of Campos Do Jordão, 1628m above sea level. The town’s Swiss chalet-style hotels and private houses, boutiques and Germanic style restaurants create its charm. There are good walks, and trails are well signposted. In July the town experiences an influx of visitors to enjoy the winter festival of classical music.

The Serra Gaúcha is considered to be one of the most beautiful areas in the southern states of Brazil. The most visited sites by tourists in the Serra Gaúcha are the towns of Gramado and Canela. Gramado is home of the Brazilian Movie Festival, the Festival of Lights during Christmas season, many conventions and other gatherings. Canela is known for its natural beauty and can be visited on the same day when visiting Gramado. Don't forget to drop by the Caracol Falls when visiting Canela.

It should be clearly stated that for trips prior to your surgery, you may choose any destination or activity, however there is some special care involved in the post-operative period, therefore there are some restrictions to the activities and tourist destinations. Should you wish to visit some place in Brazil not cited here, or should you have any other doubts, please do not hesitate to contact us.
